Dear Colleagues,
It was an honor to have been
assigned again by SOLACI’s authorities to collaborate on the
scientific program for this new edition of SOLACI Congress. Let
me remind you, that the event will be held at a privileged place:
Cancun City in our brother country of Mexico from August 6th to
8th, this year.
Every efforts made (by this
organization and the numerous colleagues and faculties from different
parts of the world who, without hesitation, accepted our call to
be part of this Congress) will have achieved its goal by having
your presence and participation.
Even though I am sure that
most of you have the opportunity to attend and participate in many
extremely high academic level events in different parts of the world,
so many that sometimes their frequency becomes overwhelming and
they even hinder your daily activities; let me tell you that we
have always tried to make you feel that this is your event, that
it is for you: the members of SOLACI.
I believe this is “our
event” for multiple reasons: first, because this is the event
of our society, whose official language unites us (of course, the
"Portuñol"); then, because despite the innumerable
participation of experts from all around the world, we always try
to find a place for many of our distinguished people. People who
have published a lot and people who have not published that much
but who have plenty of experience in our area, which tends to be
common in our countries and deserves to be shared. Some, by making
their presentations and many others, by helping us, with their questions
and comments, to understand and adapt the evidence and the experiences
gained from other places to our realities; and lastly, for many
other reasons I can not summarize.
Even though it is true that
our primary goal is the participation of those members of SOLACI,
we are also taking actions to stimulate the interest of colleagues
from other regions of the planet thirsty of knowing about our experiences,
our beautiful countries and the warmth that only we, as Latin Americans,
can give.
In a show of mutual scientific
cooperation, it is extremely important to emphasize the participation
of the local scientific societies related to the sector, among which
we can mention SOCIME (Interventional Cardiology Society of Mexico),
ANCAM (National Association of Mexican Cardiologists) and the Cardiology
Society of Mexico. All together, we have planned joint sessions
that I am sure will be of your interest, and it gives me great hope
to see every room and every hall crowded with many colleagues, nurses
and technologists of the host country, besides the many of us who
will provide our daily task to enjoy this event with them.
The scientific program will
be varied; there will be sessions, debates, conferences and live
cases held in three different cities. For all this, we have had
absolute independence and any omission or error has been involuntary
and unrelated to any commitment towards our sponsors, who we thank
for granting us this freedom. We have reserved the symposia and
workshops for them so they can bring their news and information
which I am sure will be of your interest. We would like to offer
you more but it is extremely difficult to gather so many activities
in just three days.
These series of bulletins aim to bringing you the news about the
event. In this edition, I would like to tell you that we have extended
the delivery of abstracts and very successful cases until April
27th; that there will be a preliminary program on the website in
a few days, but to give you and advance, I inform you that Dr. Martin
Leon has agreed to give the opening conference titled "The
Journey of PCI from Empiricism to Evidence-Based Medicine: The Next
Challenges" which I strongly recommend you.
Finally, let me remind you
to please book your plane tickets and hotel rooms in due time, and
process your VISA for those who may need it.
I look forward to counting
with an important participation from all of you that will justify
the effort our hosts and of the companies that support us are doing
to make this possible.
See you in Cancun… at
the sessions, obviously! So comments from those that say that an
event like this can not be held in such a beautiful place are not
justified.
Kind Regards,
|
